Where we began
The journey began with Karl and I, two individuals who, for years, collaborated at Spark, New Zealand’s largest telecommunications and digital services company. In this dynamic environment, we were part of a pioneering learning team that spearheaded online learning solutions, meeting the challenges of an increasingly digital world.
What bonded us was not just our professional collaboration but also a shared enthusiasm for online gaming and learning technologies. This common interest was the catalyst for the inception of Epic Learning in 2016. The company was more than just a business venture; it was a manifestation of our vision to revolutionise the realm of online learning.

The team
From the very beginning, Rebecca has been an integral part of the team. Her involvement since day one has been pivotal in shaping the culture and direction of the company. Since then, the team has attracted some amazing talent, all of whom work from their home offices spread across New Zealand.
Over the years, Epic Learning has been at the forefront of innovative work practices. The team has embraced cutting-edge technologies like virtual reality (VR) for meetings, artificial intelligence, chatbots, and bespoke learning applications. These advancements have not only enhanced our internal operations but have also been instrumental in the services we offer to our clients.
Our team values flexibility, creativity, trust and above all a love of learning in the workplace.
The pivotal moment in our journey came in 2019, when we embarked on a new venture. This project was driven by the desire to democratise the high-quality, ‘epic’ learning experiences that we had been creating for corporate and government organisations. The goal was to bring these offerings directly to the masses, transcending the barriers of traditional corporate training.
Continuing the Epic Learning story, the team has evolved into a collective of like-minded learning professionals who hail from various corners of New Zealand. This geographical diversity has become a cornerstone of our identity, showcasing how modern technology can bridge distances and foster a cohesive work environment. Despite being spread across the country, we maintain a close-knit community, a testament to our shared values and dedication to our craft.

One of the unique aspects of our team culture is our affinity for hanging out in virtual reality (VR). We often gather in VR spaces to unwind and connect personally, transcending the limitations of physical distance. A favourite activity during these virtual meetups is playing rounds of virtual mini-golf.
